Cones.  In 1992, Jeff became a staff attorney at O’Quinn Kerensky & McAninch, and one-year later moved permanently to Los Angeles, where he continued to acquire experience in licensing, business law, film finance and distribution. Jeff formed his own law practice and management company serving independent producers, writer-directors and actors in April of 1997. He has served as Executive Producer, Producer and/or Production Counsel on many professionally-produced, theatrical-quality feature films, including THE PRINCIPLE (Kate Mulgrew, Michio Kaku, Lawrence Krauss, Max Tegmark), TAPPED OUT (Coolio), MANIACTS (Jeff Fahey, Kelly Waymire), and the 35MM short NO PROM FOR CINDY (Dir. YOUR CAT IS DEAD!, starring and directed by Steve Guttenberg. Other film projects which he packaged or represented include: the Animal Planet film HOPE RANCH (C. Thomas Howell, Bruce Boxleitner), THEY CALL HIM SASQUATCH (Garry Marshall, Neal McDonough), HARD SCRAMBLED (Curtwood Smith, Alanna Ubach) and MINE 9 (Terry Serpico). In the course of his career, he has done a dozen motion picture private placements, consulted on the formation of two multi-picture funds, successfully negotiated and drafted many financing arrangements, and in 2006 was asked to prepare a film tax credit program for the State of Texas. An experienced entertainment lawyer, noted lecturer and author on film finance and distribution, Jeffery C. Foy is the author of USING § 181, a comprehensive guide to understanding the tax accounting concepts and rules pertinent to the federal tax incentive for motion picture producers.
